Melisa Patel is a licensed clinical professional counselor who completed her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Johns Hopkins University. She has over 5 years of experience working with both adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, and perinatal mental health as well as other life stressors. Additional experience includes substance use, suicidal ideation, bipolar, trauma, and ADHD. Melisa has been trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and crisis intervention. She has worked both in an inpatient and outpatient clinical setting, which has contributed to her knowledge and skillset. She uses various treatment models individualized to meet each client’s differing needs.
Melisa uses empathy and humor to build a relationship with a client where they feel encouraged, valued, empowered, and supported. She believes in working together with clients to utilize their strengths to help them manage their challenges and work towards creating lasting, healthy life changes.
