Are you from the DC area?

Yes, I am! I grew up in the Rockville/Potomac area and moved back to the area after finishing school and residency.

What are your best tips for staying healthy?

Get up and move! In today’s day and age, the majority of Americans are sedentary during the day, and that’s not what we were designed for! Try to stay as active as possible whether it’s going to a dance class, walking with friends, and don’t be afraid of weight training! But also remember that health and fitness are first and foremost made in the kitchen. You can’t out-exercise unhealthy eating habits!

If I wasn’t a doctor, I’d be…?

Probably a marine biologist or a writer for National Geographic! I always knew I’d have a career with a science base, but as a kid I wanted to travel, write and photograph amazing things!

Hands down the BEST OBGYN!!!! She has delivered all my babies and I refuse to allow any other OB delivery my babies. She is very knowledgeable, compassionate and very easy to talk with. She is always attentive to me during my appointments. She answers all my questions, my appointments never are rushed. She’s the BOMB!! So thankful to have Dr.Ely as my OBGYN!!!! She even delivered my babies so safe and quick.

Dr. Ely is the best OBGYN that I’ve ever been to! Her appointments never feel rushed, and she’s very a compassionate and kind doctor. At every appointment, she makes sure to address every one of my concerns and questions. And as someone who has hypochondria and finds the OBGYN very anxiety provoking—her patience, gentleness, and thoroughness in providing information is very appreciated! Dr. Ely definitely wins with her bedside manner and professionalism!
